sada smeravaktram krpapurnanetram sthiram dinamitram janapritipatram ।
suvijnatasastram kasayaktavastram dayanandarupam madacaryamide ॥ 1॥

parabrahmanistham svato dharmanistham ahimsaikanistham svasisyaih sujustam ।
yatinam varistham gurunangaristham dayanandarupam madacaryamide ॥ 2॥

susastre carantam sada sancarantam janan bodhayantam bhavaduddharantam ।
mathamsthapayantam gurun pujayantam dayanandarupam madacaryamide ॥ 3॥

kalanam pracaram dadhanam vinamram svayam granthakaram satam manitaram ।
namattapaharam svayam nirvikaram dayanandarupam madacaryamide ॥ 4॥

sada santamurtim sada ksantimurtim sada dantimurtim sada satyamurtim ।
pramanapravrttim disantam sukirtim dayanandarupam madacaryamide ॥ 5॥

idampancakam yah pathecchuddhacittah sada moksamarge nitantam pravrttah ।
prasadat sa sasturbhavejjnanayuktah sa jivanmrto va bhavennityamuktah ॥

॥ Dayananda Panchakam Meaning ॥

I worship my Guru Swami Dayananda Saraswati (an embodiment of compassion and ananda), who has an ever smiling face, whose eyes are full of compassion, who is a steady friend of the helpless, who is loved by all people, who is well-versed in the scriptures and who is in ochre-robe. 1

I worship my Guru Swami Dayananda Saraswati, who is established in parabrahma, who abides by dharma spontaneously, who follows ahimsa without compromise, who is deeply adored by his (numerous) disciples, who is the noblest among saints and who is the greatest among teachers. 2

I worship my Guru Swami Dayananda Saraswati who (always) revels in the sacred scriptures, who is constantly on the move, who shares his wisdom with the people, who uplifts (all) from samsara, who is establishing institutions for scriptural learning and who worships his Gurus. 3

I worship my Guru Swami Dayananda Saraswati who promotes all forms of arts, who remains modest, who is an author and composer, who honours all great people, who alliviates the pains of the afflicted and who himself remains undisturbed. 4

I worship my Guru Swami Dayananda Saraswati who is ever the embodiment of peace, accommodation, restraint and truthfulness, who (clearly) unfolds the function of pramanas and who is world-famous. 5

One who is steadily and sincerely engaged in the pursuit of moksa and who reads these five verses will be blessed with knowledge by the grace of Guru. Whether living or dead, he will ever free.

The one who shows the means to true knowledge and perception of the One Reality; the form of the One Truth; the one who throws light on the one aphorism (tat tvam asi – That thou art); I extol Sri Dayananda. 1

The one who bestows the wealth (of knowledge) that serves the twin purposes of this world and beyond; the one who transcends duality; the refuge of all virtues; the tranquil one, beyond
the pairs of opposites; I extol Sri Dayananda. 2

The great teacher, expert in explaining the real nature of the Truth that transcends the three qualities (sattva, rajas and tamas); the one who is beyond the three afflictions (Adi
Atmikam, Adi bhautikam and Adi daivikam – caused by self, surroundings and Divine dispensation); I extol Sri Dayananda. 3

The one whose abode is by the Ganga in the sacred region of the four shrines (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri); the one who has the boon of expression from Lord Brahma Himself; the one who expounds the significance of the four puruShArthas (dharma, artha, kAma and mokSha); I extol Sri Dayananda. 4

The AchArya, 85 years of age; the abode of Lord Siva’s grace; the one adorned by this garland of five shlokas; I extol Sri Dayananda. The one well sung by Pushpa, disciple of Sadguru Sri Tyagabrahmam; I revere the ascetic, Sri Dayananda; the auspicious one living hundred years. 5
